A large area of low pressure in the Atlantic has met its match in a stubborn area of high pressure, currently over western Europe. Although this low and an associated weather systems are trying to push weather fronts across the UK, they are making very little progress, getting no further than western parts before petering out.
But for bodysurfers, this is great news. The associated large swell is spreading into north Cornwall and north Devon, persisting for a few days too, and accompanied by southerly to southeasterly offshore winds. Waves as large as a few metres high can be expected through today, tomorrow and the weekend (with a decent period too) – only slowly easing after the weekend, once the high pressure wins the battle over the Atlantic, builds in across the UK and the swell gradually declines.
Make the most of the favourable conditions these next few days, they won’t last forever!
