The UK Bodysurfing Championships 2019 took place on Saturday 7th September at Fistral Beach, Newquay.
Co-organised by the UK Bodysurfing Championships CIC and UKPro Surf, the event went along very smoothly overall.
For a change there was sunshine as well as waves on the day, resulting in greater spectator involvement than has ever been seen before at these events.Previously the event has had the waves, but the weather has not been so kind!
Heats started promptly at 9am to take advantage of the time before and after high tide (1210), followed by semi finals and finals during the early afternoon.
This year (as last year) there was a Men’s Open event, a Men’s Handboard event, as well as a Ladies Final.
Everyone congregated in the Fistral Beach Bar afterwards for a Chill Out and the awards ceremony and prize-giving.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the event, and thanks to everyone involved in putting together another very successful event. A big thank you goes to the ERA lifeguard and the RNLI for all their assistance on the day!
The winners of the finals were:-
Heather Nicholson in the Ladies Final, Sam Gill in the Men’s Open with David Smith coming out winner in the Men’s Handboard division.

How many people submitted an application?
Was it just 16 or were there more applicants ?
If there were more applicants then how were the final 16 decided upon?
Hi Nath. We currently seem to recieve about the right numbers of applicants as there are places. This year there were a few drop outs near the cut off date, but we were able to largely cover these by last minute entries.
