The whole world of Bodysurfing just got even more exciting with the recent announcement of an IBSA BodySurfing World Tour!

Here are all the details, provided by the IBSA.

The IBSA BodySurfing World Tour will feature both Open Men and Open Women divisions and are held in two stages.

The first stage, the BodySurfing World Tour Qualifying Series, are to be held in different regional areas including:

• North America;
• Latin America (South and Central America);
• Polynesia (Hawaii and Tahiti);
• Europe/Africa;
• Australia/Asia.

Competitions with the BodySurfing World Tour Qualifying Series label take place throughout the year, and a ranking is established at the end of the season. The top-ranked bodysurfers from each regional area then represent their region in the Bodysurfing World Tour Finals. The qualifying system for men is based on the top 8 ranked BWT QS bodysurfers, with 4 being the highest-ranked and 4 selected from each national community. For women, the top 4 ranked BWT QS bodysurfers are selected, with 2 being the highest-ranked and 2 selected from each national community.

The second stage, in the following year, the BodySurfing World Tour Finals, bring together the top ranked bodysurfers from each region, as well as bodysurfers who receive wild cards (8 for open men and 6 for open women) awarded by the IBSA. A total of 48 men and 24 women showcase their skills in this competition.

The IBSA are responsible for selecting events, monitoring compliance with rules, sanctioning results, establishing a classification based on results reported by organizers, selecting the final event organizer, and sanctioning the final result.

What is the IBSA BodySurfing World Tour?

The IBSA BodySurfing World Tour is a new competition sanctioned by the International BodySurfing Association (IBSA). It features Open Men and Open Women divisions and is held in two stages, the IBSA BodySurfing World Tour Qualifying Series and the IBSA BodySurfing World Tour Finals.

Bodysurfers from USA can participate in IBSA QS events from other regions (in Hawaii, Australia, Brazil, …). They score points in the General QS Ranking; however, points do not count towards the QS ranking of the North America regional area. Their qualification depend on their results during North America QS events.

North America:- The IBSA has selected Steamer Lane (Santa Cruz, CA, USA) to be the first North American contest to be part of the Bodysurfing World Tour Qualifying Series. The Steamer Lane contest will take place on Friday, April 21 2023.

Australia/Asia:-  The IBSA has selected Coolum Wedge BodySurfing Festival (Australia) to be part of the IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour – Qualifying Series for Australia – Asia regional area.

The Coolum Wedge contest will take place on March 24-26 2023
