The map above shows up-to-date bodysurfing conditions for approximately 900 beaches around the world. Zoom in to select good bodysurfing areas, then compare nearby beaches (full 5 day forecasts are available for all locations). Once zoomed in the slider can also be used to view colour changes in the next few days.

All beach forecasts are based on NOAA WW3 forecast data (utilising operational NCEP products) which are then manipulated to be bodysurfing specific, and are updated on a daily basis.

UK Bodysurfing Championships

The UK Bodysurfing Championships are set to return this year as lockdown measured gradually reduce and sporting events are increasingly allowed to restart.

UK Bodysurfing Championships C.I.C.

During the lockdowns the UK Bodysurfing Association CIC didn’t sit still but continued to forge closer links with Surfing England, following their affiliation with them in January 2020. Working together for the first time, the UK Bodysurfing Championships 2021 are expected to take place at Fistral Beach, Newquay, over the weekend of 4-5th September.

There are likely to be many improvements as a result of this amalgamation with Surfing England (bodysurfing being so closely aligned to surfing), but also at the event itself by having a more prominent competition and viewing area right in front of the lifeguard tower.

It will be a whole new experience too, utilising the vast experience Surfing England has to offer the UK Bodysurfing Association CIC in terms of putting an event out there, but one they are certainly looking forward to immensely!

Not only are the UK Bodysurfing Championships 2021 taking place that weekend, but all being well the UK Bodysurfing Association CIC will also play host to Euro Bodysurf for the very first time. Euro Bodysurf is a series of bodysurfing events held across the whole of western Europe, stretching from Morocco, Portugal and Spain in the south to France and the UK in the north. It is hoped that the return of air travel will allow many of these competitors to make the journey across to compete.

The sport of bodysurfing is presently more advanced in some of these other countries, France for example having several hundred active bodysurfing members and covering all ages, but the UK is catching up quickly. The UK Bodysurfing Association CIC are looking forward to welcoming competitors from all over the world, which can only be good news for the sports development in this country.
