Sandy Beach

About Sandy Beach

Experts say that sea temperatures are rising in this area, which would mean a greater chance of hurricanes reaching the shores of Hawaii. Recent years seem to back up that theory. Sandy Beach on Oahu’s south coast is exposed to the trade winds, but gets some shelter from the mountainous island just behind it. The swell will be consistent enough though, bringing along some good sized waves on the right day.

  • Faces southeast
  • Strong currents/rips
  • Submerged rocks
  • Plenty of local facilities
  • Car parking
