The Slyde Handboards UK Bodysurfing Championships 2017 are to be followed by an Expression Session – great news for anyone who wishes to have a go at bodysurfing themselves!

The Slyde Handboards UK Bodysurfing Championships 2017 will take place on Fistral Beach, Newquay over the weekend of 16-17th September, and are to be followed by a Chill Out in the Fistral Beach Bar on Saturday evening.

This Expression Session (sponsored by Slyde Handboards, SilverLabel and SP Gadgets) will fill the gap between the two events, at the same time helping to boost interest in the sport for the future.

This will be the first time that the sport of bodysurfing has featured so strongly here in the UK, and on an international level too! Four wildcard entries from abroad are expected to compete alongside twelve competitors from the UK in this, the inaugural Slyde Handboards UK Bodysurfing Championships 2017.

 

 

Slyde Handboards are the main sponsor for the Championships, but with Korev Cornish Lager and the Fistral Beach Bar combining to bring us the Chill Out in the bar later. The balcony of the Fistral Beach Bar is itself is a fantastic arena for viewing the event live as it happens, with the Chill Out taking place inside later.

Now, thanks to Slyde Handboards, SilverLabel and SP Gadgets sponsorship of this Expression Session all spectators at Fistral Beach on Saturday will now have an opportunity to try out bodysurfing for themselves, straight after the Championships finish. Since the advent of handboards and waterproof action cameras the sport has grown in popularity right across the world, increasing the spectacle of the sport immensely, as will be seen from this fun event.

Spectators can take out a Slyde Handboard (which will be fitted out with SilverLabel waterproof action cameras and SP Gadgets Mounts) and be as adventurous as they want. They can test out their own skills in a 20 minute session all their own with the chance of winning some fantastic prizes. The cost is £5, which includes 1 day’s temporary membership to the UK Bodysurfing Association CIC.

The videos will be played back later in the Fistral Beach Bar and will be judged by representatives from SilverLabel/SP Gadgets. The best 3 videos will be awarded prizes, and will also receive one year’s free membership to the UK Bodysurfing Association.

Contestants will be competing for these fantastic prizes:-

• 1^st place – SilverLabel 4K with SP Gadgets mouth mount, pole and case
• 2^nd place – SilverLabel 360 with SP mouth mount and case
• 3^rd place – SilverLabel 1080p with SP Gadgets case

Prizes for the Expression Session will be presented immediately after the Slyde Handboards UK Bodysurfing awards ceremony.

• £5 for a 20 minute session
• All participants grant UK Bodysurfing Championships CIC/SilverLabel/SP Gadgets full permission to use their name/ videos in the general promotion of the event and on social media
• All participants will receive one day’s temporary enrollment into the UK Bodysurfing Association CIC
